Building a drum sander has always been very simple, it's basically just a box with a lid. It's very important that the lid is flat and smooth to achieve optimum performance from your drum sander. These tops are made from 3/4" HD-MDF laminated with anodized aluminum. This is the same top as on our Flatmaster.

By no means do our sanders only work with our tops. In fact, we encourage our customers to build their own. It is however imperative to have a strong, flat top. We have these tops available for customers who either struggle to get a top flat by themselves or just plain don't have the time to build one.
