The maximum opening is about 3" +/- on my set and they looked quite different then the ones on the web site. The set on the web site and that I'd seen at the wood show are all metal, the ones I received had an orange grip over the metal handle and the pads on the jaws are different (bigger).

It's still a good product but while I knew 7" was a stretch since I'd seen them in use at Stockroom Supply's wood show I did think the jaws would open closer to 4". I figured I could one hand clamp two 2x4 together and I really don't think that's going to be possible. I think perhaps the opening is supposed to be 7 cm not 7 inches?

The clamping pressure seems good and is adjustable and seems consistent I can clamp two pieces of paper or two boards one handed with no adjusting in between. They really are remarkable.

Quality seems great, and the orange grip while not like the one pictured on the site is probably a benefit not a drawback.

FInal thoughts: Not 7" but a high quality, well made clamp that delivers on the promise of clamping any size without adjusting anything. (Posted on 8/21/10)
